Experiencing Paris Fashion Week FOMO? Here are 3 Highlights: Cardi B Slays, Balmain's 10th, and Balenciaga x The Simpsons

Everything You're Missing

I've gotta admit, I am experiencing some serious FOMO when it comes to Paris Fashion Week. I lived in France for two years, pursuing my dreams of becoming a fashion journalist, and it is in Paris where I got my first 'shot,' as an intern at Paris Vogue (that led to freelancing at Italian Vogue then owning a business).

While I live for New York Fashion Week, and London and Milan are fabulous, Paris is THE home of some of the most venerable houses, from Chanel and Saint Laurent to Balmain and Louis Vuitton: It is the bomb! Unfortunately this season, I was booked and busy, so here are a few highlights from the City of Lights so far:

  1. Cardi B

Cardi B popped out a baby boy a few weeks ago, and re-emerged snatched and ready to slay the streets of Paris. She appeared in a plume of red feathers for the Thierry Mugler exhibit, and followed her first look with a black gown by the brand:

Every day afterwards have been chock full of iconic ensembles, ranging from futuristic duds from Schiaparelli:

To more demure items from Balmain, Roberto Cavalli, and Richard Quinn:

Take notes, this is how you do Paris Fashion Week!

2. Balmain's 10th Anniversary

Balmain celebrated 10 years of iconic designer Olivier Rousteing at the helm, with a star studded cast of models that included Naomi Campbell, Carla Bruni, Natalia Vodianova, Adut Akech, Lara Stone and Edie Campbell, and fabulous pieces to match: endlessly embellished mini dresses, gilded rope like gowns, and the brand's signature blazers, and pleated skirts, fit for a Balmain army.

Rousteing said, ‘It’s a collection that talks about the freedom to be yourself, about having the confidence to move forward into a new world, both with the clothes and for myself. It’s been 10 years so I wouldn’t say I’m opening a new chapter. I’m opening a new book."

3. The Simpsons at Balenciaga

Balenciaga put the Simpsons on the Runway, presenting a cartoon that featured the lovable fictional family, along with fixtures like Anna Wintour (in the short, she shed a tear that was quickly bottled and sold as perfume)...

Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West.

With the world being so serious about style, the cartoon offered some much needed levity and light heartedness.

Fashion Week is raging on until the 6th of this month, and then we get to gear up for next season. I will be on site for the next, but for now, I can just live vicariously.

Hope you can, too.
