The mask mandate has lifted, gloves are off, and gowns are on! This past weekend saw not one, but three galas, taking place in LA, Vegas, and New York! Take a look at the top looks from the GLAAD Awards, the Grammys, and the 15 Percent Pledge Gala:
The GLAAD Awards were first up, with a ceremony that recognizes and honors various branches of the media for their outstanding representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.
Meagan Good shined at the Gala in a mint green Fall 2022 Tony Ward dress. A stunning updo, matching jade earrings, and a metallic clutch completed her look.
Now over to the Grammy's! The Grammys, as we all know, are meant to recognize spectacular work in the music industry. Fabulous fashion goes hand in hand with Grammy's Glitz.
Take a look:
SZA celebrated a Grammy win wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2006 vintage gown.
Congrats to her and Doja Cat for winning awards for Best Pop Duo Group Performance for "Kiss Me More"!
Saweetie also stood out in a hot pink Valentino Fall 2022 ensemble, styled by Timothy Luke. She pops!
Last, but not least, the 15 Percent Pledge is a non-profit organization created by Aurora James that encourages retailers to pledge at least 15 percent of their shelf-space to Black-owned businesses. They held their inaugural gala on April 2nd at the New York Public Library with a dress code that called for Black Tie by Black Designers. Take a look at some of the best looks:
Supermodel Iman received an award wearing a Sergio Hudson dress.
Tamron Hall had one of my favorite looks of the night in Laquan Smith.
Now if only celebrities on major red carpets could try to incorporate more black designers into their wardrobes. Or maybe even just 15%! What a wonderfully diverse world it would be.
